Memorization Tips

Find a method of studying that suits you:

  • flash cards

  • Diagrams

  • Writing notes and reading them out loud

  • listening to music

Going over what you are unfamiliar with first is more important than repeatedly going over the information you already know, otherwise you know some information really well and some not as well.

This doesn't mean skipping what you do know, because you can forget that as you go on!

Set goals for yourself for the end of the study session. What do you want to accomplish by the end? Don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get everything done, and most importantly don’t stress!! What you study is under your control. Make a schedule for yourself so you can organize your time to achieve what you want to.

TAKE BREAKS. Between each study session, take a drink, go on a walk, talk to your friends. Taking breaks helps de-stress. This strategy doesn't work for everyone, so some people would much rather get everything done in one sitting.

The questions that seem the hardest to you are the questions you need the most practice on. People tend to avoid what they feel that they cannot do and tend to over practice the easy stuff rather than focusing on what is more difficult. After doing 1 or 2 hard questions, do some easy questions to boost up your self-esteem, then continue doing more of the difficult questions.

Don’t just know. Understand. This not only helps you remember the topic better, but also helps you with application-type questions that could appear on your tests
